Bought this device to use for the internet on a desktop computer. Bought it online, put it in the usb and it downloaded the ATT communication manager but it goes right to "no networks" it did not even let me register the device. I am in a high coverage area according to the map. Not sure what the problem is.
I see on the back of the box, that it came in, are the bar codes and it says retailer scan for activation, i am wondering if the retailer did not scan this before they mailed it.
thanks for any advice.

Hi there:
I got one of the ATT USB Connect 900 through ebay. It was supposed to come with a sim card, you can also add a flash memory card to it, so you can increase the memory, it takes those mirco flash memory cards. But if you were to buy one of these from say ATT or Walmart or whatever retail store, it is supposed to come with a sim card preinstalled. So in that case they would scan it at checkout. Now the one that I got on ebay, did not have a sim card installed when I got it. I contacted the ebay seller and told them about the issue and they sent me a sim card.
So if the one that you have does not have a sim card installed in it. then you should either contact whoever you got it from and report that you did not get a sim card and ask if they would send you or you could either get a new sim card from ATT.
Now in order to activate it and get things set up, You can goto http://www.att.com.buyasession and click on Prepaid DataConnect Plans to create a new prepaid account. It will ask you for the IMEI number that is on the ATT USB Connect 900 and it will also ask you for the ICCID that you can find on the SIM card or on the package that the Connect 900 came in, this is IF it came with a SIM card, now IF it did not come with a SIM card and you get a new SIM card from ATT, then the ICCID numbrer will be on the card that the smaller SIM card is attached to.
So after you fill in the information on the website, you click on continue and it will ask you for more information, it will ask for a email address and you will need to create a password and it will ask for your name and address and it will also ask for a credit/debit card, so that they will have a way to bill you for whatever dataconnect plan that you may choose.
Hope this is found helpful.
That's it for now. Take care till later.

It sounds like you may need your SIM card replaced. AT&T Corporate stores will usually give you a SIM card free of charge.
