phone needed without data plan

I am already paying 3 data plans and refuse to pay for any more. yet my daughter needs a new phone. at our local store there were only two choices, neither of which my daughter liked. My question is:  does anyone know of a good phone that i dont need a data plan for?

From at&t, they are optional on all non-smartphones. If you go through a third party retailer, they can require one.

You can go to a bigger AT&T store that may have a larger selection of quick messaging phones.

As an alternative, you may want to consider a prepaid smartphone like the AT&T Avail. You can buy any 3G Android smartphone at the full no-contract price and use the phone with a prepaid plan, like the $25 monthly plan.

You may change your mind about data plans once you look at the optional prepaid data plans. The prepaid data plans are: $5/50MB, $15/200MB, and $25/1GB data plans.

Last but not least, it depends on where you live whether or not you can use a prepaid phone. The coverage viewer at the top right of this forum screen should help. It's even better if you can find out from your friends in the area where you live if they get good signals on prepaid AT&T phones.
