We just got a new ipad for our daughter and cannot connect to home wireless. During set-up, it is asking for a password for our home xWIRExxx netork and I do not know what it is. Earlier computers (and ipads) have never asked for this. All the onews I thought were possible do not work. I think the ATT technician may have set up a passwork when we first used the system. How can I find out this password?

The password is located on the side of the Residential Gateway. If you have the black RG there is a tag near the top, if you have the silver one it is located on a tag on the lower part of the RG. Both are on the side.

I'm sure this issue is widespread and the fix should be given for free!

Adding this password does not work. I called ATT support and they said I had to contact Connect Tech for a fee $$.

Not sure if you've checked or not, but you'll want to verify you are connecting (or attempting to connect) to your network. The "2Wirexxx" network name is how to identify your network. The xxx should be the last 3 digits in the serial number of you gateway. If there are many people in you neighborhood with Uverse you may see multiple 2WIRExxx networks listed and your password will not work on those other networks. It wont tell you your on the wrong network, you'll just get a failed connection.

Also make sure you are using the correct "password".
On the 3800 RG (silver) it is called, Wireless Key Code.
On the 3801 RG (black) it is called, Net Key
Be sure you aren't trying to use the System Password. That is the one that gives you access to the internal settings of the RG.

by default either the router gateway number is 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.7.254
you can try access the UI and go to the wireless settings.. you can check your wifi password..
hope this one helps
