I want to clarify something from our discussion: MMS messages, like photos, are included in your messaging plan and do not count as data transfers. So even if you are sending and receiving pictures with your phone, you should not be assessed a data transfer charge. AT&T technical support cleared this up today, and indeed, if you look at where MMS messages show up on your bill, they are under your messaging plan, not under Data Transfers.
