AT&T's first LTE Tablet has arrived and it looks like a nice one. So far the reviews for the HTC Jetstream have all been very good. The only negative that I see is the price tag. My 64GB iPad 2 was $829, while the Jetstream only has 32GB and is $849. Off contract and $699. With a 2 year contract. With all the tablets that are coming out I'm really surprised by this price tag...... Anyone have this one yet?

Yep too steep for my pocket. I think I posted to Anndroid154 how , for that price, that thing better make coffee, pour coffee, make my breakfast (french toast with droid-selected raisins), drive me to work, DO my job, take me home, feed me, read me a bedtime story and tuck me in! Too much $$$$ . Nearly a thousand dollars just to start up.

No way

Could you explain why you can't put Android 2.3 on HP's TouchPad?

^^^That question would be best posed to the developers who are working on porting Android to the HP Touchpad.

I would have bought this even if is a little over $800. However, the fact that it only has 32GB of storage made me change my mind.

Re: Android Tablets

I tried the HTC Jetstream in the store (after the rep looked at me like I was crazy).  My complaint was that the tablet was laggy and unresponsive.  That could be because of Sense, because it is the demo model and everyone is abusing it, or both.  I like Sense on my phone, but wouldn't want it on a tablet.

I was debating between the HTC Jetstream (didn't know that was what it would be called) and the Motorola XOOM in February.  I'm glad that I got the XOOM and didn't wait for the Jetstream.

As far as the memory goes, it comes with 32GB, but you can add up to a 32GB microSD card, for a total of 64GB of memory.  The contract situation is sad because you have to carry a $35 data plan for two years.

Lack of documentation for some hardware components.

It's already partially running on the TouchPad, but it's likely going to be a LONG time for a fully functional version as a lot has to be reverse engineered.

Yeah, I forgot that one could add more memory via an SD card. However that would mean adding more money to an already over priced Tablet. No thanks.

Definitely more palatable. Maybe some will break a $$$1,000$$$$ for the other device, but i sure can think of other things to do with a thousand dollars than spend it on a tablet that goes out of date within 6months to a year.

Isn't that neat? "Mini smartphone" tablets! If they would even be considered a tablet...

I would still rather have a smartphone than one of these, though. The added phone capability to one of these would make them fit into the smartphone category, I would think. I wonder if they have rear cameras as well? Most likely.

WB you just described the Dell Streak !  Its a tablet and phone (no mini about it) basically a small tablet with phone functions.   Front and rear cameras too!!

Still alive and well over seas where it was first debut, but Dell decided to pull its U.S. distribution. My guess is that carriers wanted more control of the device than Dell would allow (for that, i am ok with their decision) .

But rumors are that theres more demand for it overseas in other countries than here in US.  I cant buy that because theres countries much smaller than US and they cant convince me that such small country's "Dell Streak Customers" out number the entire U.S. streak customers.... hmmm.

Re: Android Tablets

Tastes in devices vary from country to country, and also, carrier mangling is less severe in other countries.

Carrier mangling was a MAJOR contribution to the Streak's failure in the U.S. - Users got fairly annoyed at AT&T holding back updates that everyone with unlocked/international devices was getting.

Look at how long it took us to get the GSII - by the time AT&T is releasing it, it's already half-obsolete!

As far as the Galaxy Players - the 5" unit is going to exist in phone form as the Galaxy Note.  The Note appears to support AT&T's bands, however I wouldn't be surprised if it's never sold by AT&T, or takes FOREVER for AT&T to sell it.  Again - look at the GSII.

Entropy512 (cool screen name) I agree! That is exactly why our devices are so few in between and always late compared to other carriers. The ONLY reason we see a few more devices now is because att is no longer the sole carrier for the iphone. Att was sooooo up steve jobs... during that initial period, all other phones, devices and customers practically put on hold... No tablets, no androids except for the token backflip where I read somewhere on the forum somebody tried to say androids aback then was what halted our network... It was funny. Anyway Dell didnt buy atts mwngling and said forget it. I got theStreak and no stamped ATT brand on the body of the device. Only the small att letters on the navigation bar at the top.

So the price of the Flyer is no longer $499.99 for full retail, but only $299.99? That's a very good price drop! It seems even more tempting, now! :smileyvery-happy:

It has also been said that the Flyer is scheduled to get Honeycomb at some point. If I had the cash, I would certainly be willing to buy the Flyer with Gingerbread and update the device to Honeycomb whenever it is released.

Not sure if the Flyer has HDMI. Now where did those specifications go?

Not really tablet related, but did anyone else see this teaser from Samsung?

Superpad tablet? What make and model is that? I've never heard of that type of tablet before. It depends - is your tablet 3G capable? Or just a Wi-Fi version? Where are you seeing the "mobile" word? On your home screen, in your settings, etc.?

You have the choice between 'Mobile' and 'Classic' versions of a website because some people prefer using the 'Classic' or 'Full' version of a website so it's more computer-like. Some people like using the 'Mobile' version better because it's faster and less cluttered. I don't think there are any advertisements for some websites in the 'Mobile' version, either.

Re: Android Tablets

Samsung's tabs are solid, but they lack a slot for additional memory.

If you're going to buy a tablet, wait a bit. You'll be seeing all sorts of new tabs running the new Tegra3 in the coming months to compete with the Asus Prime that's out now, and the upcoming Asus TF700 (basically a Prime but with an upgraded front cam, higher res screen and new back panel...for $100 more).
