Samsung Captivate

I recently got this new neat phone, and I have one major problem. I am wondering if there is a way the phone would blink red or other colors to alert that I have a text message or an email? Is that possible?
I cannot use any volume because I am deaf. So there have to be another way to alert me without vibrations or sounds. Any help is appreciated!

I do not think so, unfortunately. Maybe you could just feel the vibration, if the phone was on vibrate...?
Hope I could be of help. ![]()

Oh haha I can feel the vibrations alright. I am very senstive to vibrations since deafies feel that more than sounds. Darn I was hoping there is a way that I could see if its flashing, meaning I have messages without the vibration like my blackberry curve "crackberry".

Maybe there is possibly a way for you to download an App from the Android Market, and apply it to your settings... I know absolutely nothing about the Android Market and its apps, but maybe someone else could help you out.
Edit: On my friend's Motorola Droid, (Android phone) he has this flashing background where it will flash blue, green and red. I don't know it it is available for settings, though... ![]()

You're welcome, happy I could be of help. ![]()
Maybe someone else could further elaborate on this, but I am pretty sure.

There's an app called No LED. I haven't tried it myself, but have read some that some people like it.

No LED or Missed Call would be good applications for you to try and see if they meet your needs.
Would the "No LED" app be available to be used in the settings, though, as a ringtone/vibration/other tone?

Get the program called Tasker, it costs a little but allows you to setup little programs. These programs can do what you want and more.
Good luck.
I'm setting up Tasker profiles on my phone, so I was thinking the same thing. When an unread text exists, Tasker could turn the screen on and make it stay on, go to the home screen, and set the wallpaper to some brightly colored image. Since the display timeout and wallpaper are settings, they would automatically revert back when the text is read. Using K9 for email, you could do the same when an email arrives and revert when the email app is opened.
Still, would you recommend buying Tasker (about $6 or $7) just for this?
