This past couple of months, my husband has noticed unusual data activity on his phone. His data plan is only 200MB because he rarely ever uses internet on his phone (maybe a few times a month for a very short time) so he doesn't need a big data plan. However, he is being charged for over 500MB of data that he is not using. According to his online statement, his last data usage was 387MB two days ago which is impossible because he didn't even use internet on his phone on that day, let alone 387MB!! Even with apps automatically syncing, his usage should not be as high as 387MB in one single day. This unknown high data activity appears on his statement every evening between 9PM and 10PM. What is going on???

Smart phones are connected to data every second of every minute. Disable the internet settings when not being used. This is the ONLY way to properly manage your data

i was using samsung s2 and 200MB dataplan for last 4 months,i had same ploblem on 03\05, most of the time i use wi-fi so i have 200MB plan is fine. i always turn off data plan.

03/05 first day of my bill cycleand first activity on dataplan....booom 720mb...got message used 100% useage and over charged $15 for every 200MB. spoke to ATT customer service they credited money back, but they can't help on Data used ...so 200MB my usage is over in 1 sec....i have to wait for next month cycle to use dataplan or i have to buy more dataplan.

i am sure 0 applications running and my ram aslo bellow 250mb...724mb gone in i shot can't belive it.

this is not good thing for ATT to force there cutomers to use high dataplans...if this happens again..not sure what i have to do, this is happening with many customers they need a solution to resolve...if this repeats again only Clark Howard can help...

i turned off my dataplan setting for next 30 days...

I had basically the same thing occur last night, while at home and, as far as I knew, connected to wi-fi. My history shows that the almost my entire date package was used up. If it has to do with having data turned on, then why didn't this occur every other day and, why would it use any of my data plan while wi-fi is on?

if it's happening with 200MB dataplan...only thing i can suspect...ATT forcing for Higher dataplan..right now there is no 200MB plan anymore...got todat some test messages from ATT to followup on issue...so far no idea what caused 1100MB in 2 or 3 clicks...hope ATT will fix this issues soon...
