i think he means the order number on the order status website which seems to indicate how far back you are in line, not you order confirmation number you recieved in your email or on your reciept.

Oh well, I might as well list it.  Mine is ##,#79 and ##,#30.  When I look at the Order ID on my receipt, the number is there.

I had to look up mine by the 'Home/Work Contact Number' bit, using the number I gave them.

Shows ordered:1, back-ordered:1 for the phone and FRT.

Hmm. I wasn't told that it was back-ordered... I was told that it'd be "2-3 days".

i wonder if the order numbers really indicate anything... do you think you were the 21st person to direct fulfill a phone spoonfull? maybe it goes by districts of from a specific warehouse. my number is in the 14,000s as well... and i ordered mine around noon on the 11th. if those numbers actually mean anything i guess i could be waiting a while. my iphone just went on backorder again anyway...

My order # is 1,2##. Right now it says that it is on backorder, but I hope its just because its Sunday and that tomorrow I'll get lucky...

Today I went into the ATT store after calling and being notified 3-4 weeks. I canceled my order, which had not charged yet, which also canceled the new number I had set up. The att guy then made a new number for me with no phone and I walked into the apple store, got a phone and walked out in 10 mins. NEVER go to a att store, apple is the best, they were handing out water, letting people(there were about 5 people in line) that they had enough for everyone. My phone is up and working and my direct fulfillment scam was stopped.

I almost wish I did not have an Employee, Business Discount on the line.  I would of rather had purchased it at the Apple store 1 hour away from my house.  I know I could of had them remove the discount.  That is something I did not know on Friday morning.  I just knew that if you had the discount then you needed to go to a corporate store.

I don't know I was trying to figure that out. I was told I would probably get mine tomorrow, but since it's backordered I don't believe that anymore.

Thanks pal. I used my Home/Contact number (my current cell number) and the zip of the store. It says "In Progress". So basically, they've recieved my info but not much more.

This DF thing sounds like it turned out to be a big scam.  I'm glad I declined the DF offer at the first AT&T store I went to on the 11th, and "settled" for a white one at the next AT&T store I went to instead of holding out and ordering the black that I really wanted.

if there really is a 3-4 week wait for DF i am gonne be very upset... the worst part is i have a feeling if i go into the at&t store tommorow to ask about my DF order they will tell me they can't tell me when they will get them... i can't stand at&t's policy of decieving their customers.

The only email I got was from AT&T notifying me that my order was there. But, I received that email after I picked up my iPhone, the AT&T rep who did the DF for me called me up.

On my email it says 2-3 days from this morning (when i got the email) so i dont know whats up. I doubt that they are backordered, Apple has more than enough and are just holding out..

Hey guys, one thing to remember is you will most likely get your iPhone by the end of this upcoming week. I can tell that Apple is making a huge effort to get these orders in fast because of the fact that some of guys stood in line and so they will probably do their best to get in all the DF's before the end of next week.

tawfiqmp did you do "priority shipping" i ordered mine on the eleventh and I was wondering if you did. The sales rep told me it was a global line? but obiously not, my order said back ordered 2 -3 days

I placed my order around 4 PM on 7/11.  At that time I was told that the only phone not backordered was the white 16 GB so that is what I ordered.
 
This weekend, the status showed backordered for the freight but not the phone and both lines said "in processing."
 
At 8:46 tonight, 7/13/08, I received my first email.  When I checked the status page again, the phone shows backordered now.  Both lines show backordered and "in processing."

Yeah ..I dont know..Maybe my customer rep at the At&T store is worried about his commision..If the site still says "Backordered" tommorrow, Tuesday, Ill try to cancel and just pick it up at the apple stores by me which will I heard get more in Monday morning!!
