i would of instructed the customer to go to the closest attm store and return the phone and get another one in store (as long as it was bought from attm) after testing it to make sure that it works with the hearing aide that is used, now if outside of the 30 day buyers remorse period then i would direct the person to the maker od the phone for replacement/exchange.

AT&T's return policy has changed effective 10/07/12. You have 14 days to return the device & cxl without a ETF. Policy info HERE.
