I understand the two separate modem concept and have the modem for both the cable feed as well as (obviously) the UVersre. I also have my house CAT-6 hardwired independent of Uverse, with all computers plugged in to the network.
In answer to the dual service question, I am sort of a redundancy type of guy and would like to keep the Uverse as a backup. (it was a severe test of my undiagnosed OCD to lose the landline for my phone)
I guess my question should more be asked as such. If I plug my cable modem into my network and add it to the same subnet as the rest of my network, will Uverse freak out if I set it up as a separate gateway? Would/should I have to set up an additional router (with the cable modem on one subnet and the Uverse world on another?)
I hope that clarifies my question better.
