it says coming in the summer, but i would like to know a more specific date . i am with verizon, but i am watching this bad boy. if att releases this "tablet" with a data only package, i will jump ship for att. i can use skype and google voice for text and voice. what are the chances of this being data only like they are doing in europe?

Slim to none for them offering data only. They want this mini tablet to be their higher end android phone.

As to when sometime this summer and I would guess later summer considering how AT&T has been with android releases to date. And prepare to be disappointed since it will release with 1.6 but has been promised to be upgraded to 2.2. The simple fact of releasing a device with 1.6 at this point is just crazy.

The dell streak i heard was going to be released as a 2.1 device and according to other reports it is not going to be locked up like the backflip.  it will have all google features on it and supposedly supports non-android market items.

that is the last report i saw.

Just saw atts new data plans and I guess ill wait for a small tablet on a different carrier. 

Don't be shocked if Big Red follows suit with their data plans in some fashion.  High-ranking representatives of both VZW & AT&T have said unlimited data is a relic of the past.

And AT&T has mostly eliminated data only plans.

Maybe 2.2, July 5th Unlocked if u buy from Dell direct $500 or approx. $200 locked on 24 month contract with ATT. Doubt if multiple colors avail on launch. Prob Carbon only @ first, with many other colors & schemes avail later !?! Docking station & many other accessories avail online @ Dell

How do you know Dell Streak is coming out July 5th?  Most other websites indicate July 14th.  I'm wondering if the unlocked version from Dell will work with tmobile as well?

Have also read 7/15. Chatting with Dell rep online, I asked if Streak was still on schedule for launch

on 7/5 (just a shot in the dark) rep said "That is Correct" Also asked if it would be

shipped with Android OS 2.1 or 2.2. Rep said Maybe 2.2 !?! At least that means it'll have @ least 2.1 instead

of 1.6 like over in UK. Also have heard on a few video's (from Dell employes) it would  be shipped with Docking station, which remains to be seen. But if they'll ship NLT 7/15 with Android 2.1 or 2.2 and Docking

station (which has HDMI, USB & line-out), Dell will have a good shot @ an excellent launch.  With the Samsung Captivate i897 HOT on

their heels, shouldn't be very long. Various versions of Samsung Galaxy S (iPhone Killer) launching soon @ Verizon,

T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint ($199. with 2 year contract on 7/21), & Cellullar South.

It's July 5th, anybody have an update on the streak?  I havent seen any press releases yet...

I doubt it will be released today.  Like i said before, most likely it will be release at end of July.

Yes just got done talking to a dell agent online, and said that the Streak will not be launced this month (JULY)! and would not give a date! THIS SUCKS!

I am still thinking the 14/15th will be it. That is what all the rumormills have been saying for weeks, but that is only next Wednesday, so we need to start seeing real press releases, commercials, etc really soon for that to happen.

Since unless it is an iPhone AT&T releases phones on Sundays the day does not match up. And the 15th would be head to head with the Droid X. I do not think that Dell with its first US phone would want to go head to head with that.

I think u are correct  Surely they want it out before Samsung Captivate i897 (iphone KILLER), which is documented for 21st July @ T-Mobile & other Major carriers are suppose to have @ about the same time. Captivate has been on AT&T's web site for a few weeks, says COMING SOON All I know is, if Captivate gets released 1st, Streak is out of luck, torn between the 2 anyway, that will resolve the choice !?!

I also think that AT&T won't release Dell Streak anytime soon... because of Iphone...   I'll bet they have an agreement with Apple to release any cellphones (that will directly compete with iphone 4) at a later date.  This is just my thought...

I am one that thinks we will not see the Captive until the second week of Aug. Reason behind it is because the first round of iPhones went on sale for the AT&T stores on June 29. So the 30 day mark is July 29 and if the phone is announced on July 30 and will come out 2 weeks later meaning the 8th or the 15th of Aug. They do not want to take away anything from the iPhone. But I think that is exactly how they think. And with the problems that the iPhone has been having they want to make sure those people are locked into it. I hope I am wrong but time will tell.

I am just wondering how much the problems with the Fruity4 could impact their schedule. If they wait or delay the release of a good Android device, will they lose customers that might stay with AT&T for a good Android or are they leaving anyway and they don't care.

I am sticking with the 14th date, doesn't really matter to me though, one day either way will work, my contract expired in April.

If they cared they would have had a good android phone out by now. Instead they made an annouement on Jan 7 saying they would launch 5 android phones in the first half of the year. And they only hit with 2 one low end and the other low-mid. They have proved they could care less about anyone that does not want an iPhone.

i hate that at&t wont give us a good android phone the always lock up android market....i dont think im going to resing with them if they cant get this right..

The only place I've found is on the Dell Aero page. It does say "Sign up today for updates on Dell mobile products.' So I'm assuming it means ALL mobile products including the Streak?
