Quickfire Tips!
These are the two most asked about things from customers when they come into the store, and I know it's hard to find these answeres online...so here you go!

To add a ringtone to a specific contact, you have to have the contact saved to the PHONE, and not the sim. You can change this in the contact edit options. Once it is saved on the phone itself, you can select the contact and choose "edit" and select the ringtone option, which will allow you to choose a ringtone for that person when they call you.

To add a picture to a specific contact, the same rules for the contact apply. Make sure it is saved to the phone! Select the contact and choose "edit" and then select "options". A menu will pop up and you will need to select "Add optional field" and this will bring up a list of different things you can add to your contact from birthday to other numbers to a picture. Select picture and then it will allow you to choose one that was taken on the phone or from the SD card you may have.

If you have any other questions, reply and I will try and help with anything I can!

Re: Quickfire Tips!
The only thing is you can't have it on your phone and on the SIM. It will not work.

You have to delete the contacts off the SIM to get the image and ringtones. ONLY on the phone!

Amber thanks!

Thanks Amber--also there is no way to add a signature to a text.  I see that asked a lot too.

I just got 2 of these for the kids, is there anyway to hide all the Icons I don't want them accessing?  Internet/Video/download stuff.  We don't have Media.net plan, just unlimited texting.

Re: Quickfire Tips!

At this time there is no known way to hide/modify or delete any of the icons or shortcuts.  My daughter has another phone and for her I just called AT&T Customer Service and put a block on her line.  No matter what she clicks on her phone she cannot access the internet, therefore there are no unexpected charges on the bill

Thanks for the info.  Can you tell me what you blocked?  I called and blocked Media.net which worked great, but then my wife couldn't send pictures or video which is a part of our messaging unlimited plan.

Re: Quickfire Tips!

Sorry... I don't know a way around the media texts...  I have everything but phone service blocked on my daughter's phone.  She cannot send or recieve any texts.

If you just got these phones maybe take them back for phones that aren't so heavy on the applications?  Or some where the menu can be customized.  If you're within 30 days there will only be a $30 restocking fee.

I know how to assign pictures to contacts...but is there anyway the pictures show up when you recieve a TEXT from that person?

That is the one thing i really hate about this phone..

Also, is there any way to reorganize the shortcuts?

This phone-no sim/ sim - no phone thing is crazy.  Why the heck can't I back up my phone data onto the sim?  If this thing ever craps out, I've lost everything!  In the very least I should be able to have my telephone book on the sim too.

Re: Quickfire Tips!

Ok, so I want to make sure I have this right.  I have my contacts saved on both the phone and the SIM card.  I have set personal ringtones for my contacts and saved those ringtones to my phone.  However, it still rings the default ring.  Did I read correctly that I have to delete the contacts off my SIM card and have it only saved on my phone in order for the personal ringtones to work??  Is that the same for a contact photo?  Does the photo show up when those contacts call?

Also, my alarm isnt very reliable.  Sometimes it doesnt go off.  Sometimes it goes off at random times.  Sometimes 2 go off at the same time.  I had several alarms saved, and found that if I only have one alarm saved instead of 2 or 3 it doesnt seem to have as many issues, but Im still leary to depend solely on the alarm.  Anyone have the same issues or know how to fix the problem?

I have the same problem with my alarm. I've never had one go off randomly, but a lot of the time they refuse to go off. I seems worse if I set a few close together.

Re: Quickfire Tips!
I just had this problem myself-block medianet for family, then my husband and I couldn't send pics.  Call AT&T and have them just put the medianet block on phones you want it on.  Then you can send pics and videos from your phone and there will be no charges for medianet as long as you don't go online with it.  It was explained to me that even if I have unlimited texting, you need the medianet to send pics, and I was also told there is no charge for sending pics through medianet.  So far, it goes as promised.

I did just as you said.  It looks like it saves the picture but when the person calls nothing appears by their number.

What happens when you try to delete the contacts.

AT&T's return policy has changed effective 10/07/12.  You have 14 days to return the device & cxl without a ETF.  Policy info HERE.
