Re: New Email/Yahoo System
Hey kids, here's an interesting new development........ __I’m sorry to let you know that your recent post, "i do not like the new email system", has been removed because it violates AT&T DSL Forum guidelines, which prohibit: - AT&T retains the right to remove content and limit users' access - AT&T does not generally edit or monitor content posted by participants in the Forum. However, AT&T retains the right, at its sole discretion, to limit users' access to the Forum and to remove material that, in AT&T's sole judgment, does not comply with the current Usage Guidelines, that is otherwise inappropriate for the Forum, harmful, objectionable, or inaccurate, or that is not in compliance with the Terms. AT&T also retains the right to assign such right to some members of the Forum community. AT&T is not responsible for any failure or delay in removing such material. Moderators may take any action they deem necessary in their own judgment to support the Usage Guidelines, the Terms, and, in general, that can detract from the experience of other users or the purpose of the support community. Such actions may include editing or deleting material and banning individual users. Please feel free to post a revised message – we value your contributions! ..........__I have to wonder how many posts titled 'That New Yahoo Mail Thingie is the Ginchiest' or 'I'm Not Getting Quite Enough Ads With My New Yahoo Mail' were removed. It's kind of a mega-bummer, sort of a cyber sword of Damocles just a-dangling over your (my) head. The webmail transition is seriously flawed at best, calling it an upgrade doesn't make it work any better, and the lack of knowledge of the software by the tech support team only compounds the problem & magnifies it's inadequacies. I can only hope that the post(s) that were removed were duplicates that occurred when they combined the 'This Yahoo eMail System Stinks' threads, but I feel that may be overly optimistic. I can tell from reading the posts in other threads that numerous other users also feel that the transition to the yahoo adbot is a complete & utter disaster. I can safely say that this transition was not in response to customer requests. So people generally don't like this new system, it's not because it's new, it's because it STINKS. The solution is to make the new system AN OPTION (the so called 'Classic' view is still peppered with ads). Then see how many people actually like it enough to select it & use it. Free will is pretty scary stuff, eh? Well hopefully I won't get banned for expressing a bit of all American dissent, & perhaps what they WILL do is evaluate the complaints, & make some adjustments to the software. At&t had no problem 'fixing' something that wasn't broken (the old webmail interface), I can only hope they put a fraction of that energy into restoring the functionality of the webmail system, & honestly making it an 'upgrade'.

Re: New Email/Yahoo System
What AT&T needs to do is get out of Yahoo - AT&T is got the servers and room and just needs personal but could use there own System - WHY have Yahoo and powered by Yahoo ? I hate I says again HATE the ADS - on Main page and in email = Dump the ADS...... Most of the problems are via Yahoo & AT&T - Save time save money just be AT&T for web site and email and dump India and Manila for service and get real techs in the USA would be a BIG start! I am tired of calling and listen to a guy go through a script and ask the same think over and over and saying OK ever five Sec's - AT&T just needs to be on there own take care of there own and be better off in the long run! It cost more to farm out then keep it at home USA -

Lousy service
Well the changeover to "Yahoo" makes me think I am back on dialup... Guess it is time to change services along with our phones. Cannot get any help from the so-called "help" or "service" people, so they must not want my business...

Re: Lousy service
If you have mozilla firefox and have the "adblock" extension loaded it will kill the ads. I don't know if IE has one or not. It doesn't only just kill the AT&T yahoo ones, it also kills the google ones, msn ones and just about any website that has an ad on it.
I’m an AT&T employee and the postings on this site are my own and don’t necessarily represent AT&T’s position, strategies or opinions.

The Classic Mail isn't really "AD FREE." It only has "LESS ADS" than the New Mail.

Re: Latest Development......
Sorry for the inconvenience. You've stumbled upon an unexpected, temporary problem. Performing your action again in a few moments will likely resolve the problem completely. If not, we suggest you try re-launching Yahoo! Mail. If the problem persists, feel free to contact Customer Care about Error Code 23.___________________________________ I don't know if any one else has experienced the the problem above, but it happened to me a couple of times this weekend & again this morning. I guess it's just one more feature of the 'upgrade'. I can practically hear the upright ragtime piano as I settle in for another episode of that internet classic 'the Keystone Kops Host Webmail'. I wonder how often the adbot crashes, I'm pretty sure they keep that 'revenue stream' in tip top shape........... Hey, aren't paying customers a 'revenue stream' as well???

Re: i do not like the new email system!!!!!
The email works ok. You have to use the classic mail view for now or you will get dumped and have to to sign in over and over. The sign in is what i HATE . I do not like the fact I have to sign in twice with the entire email address!!! That is crap...!!!

Re: I'm Paying for a Service that Dumped my Emails to a free junk mail acount - Yahoo!
This is such a stupid answer: If paying customers don't want critical links blocked by advertisements (you can't even get to the help link if you are working on a standard aspect screen), they can switch to the less functional old version. IOW, people are paying to get less function.

It was bad enough when we had to click the link to hide the ad each and every time the screen was refereshed. Now we are supposed to shut up and settle for less? This is what we are paying for> I access this account from multiple machines and don't even have the option to use IMAP.

What's more, there's no actual place to complain about this. ATT doesn't care and there is no way to send even an e-mail complaint to Yahoo! now.

Re: New Email/Yahoo System
I agree. The services available to AT&T subscribers have been steadily degraded to the point that there is hardly any advantage at all for AT&T to stick with Yahoo!

Yahoo Photo became Flickr, which was awful if all you wanted was to share photos with your own friends, then we were dumped and told to pay $25 /year for what inferior services. Then we lost our personal web pages. At some point during the last year, they've unstituted yet another ID/password/secret question requirement to get to the "free" security programs that are bundled with the services. Now the mail has been sabotaged so that only users with widescreen monitors, and who run their browsers in full screen mode, can use it efficiently.

We have zero technical support for any of these services. AT&T's position seems to be that they provide the line and everything else is a no responsibility luxury. I'm going to be looking at alternatives this weekend because AT&T is just not cutting it.

Unfortuately, if you go back to Classic Mail, you will get an ad banner on top instead of on the right side. Please make sure you never buy anything from these advertisers.

Re: New Email/Yahoo System
I'm a bit late to this thread but just got forced over to the new Yahoo mail system. I cannot begin to vent the frustration with this. One feature of the older system was the ability to easily switch between email addresses, I assume that is no longer available? Regards, John D.

Re: New Email/Yahoo System
What do you mean by "switch between email addresses"? Do you want to switch boxes or just change the address used for an outgoing message? I use the "Accounts" feature in "Mail Options" to pull mail from multiple mail boxes into one box. When I reply to a message, I have to be sure to select the right sending account since it does not automatically send from the same account.

Re: Why does AT&T Hijack Yahoo? Rant.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. What is worse has been trying to talk to AT&T technical support and having them deny that the new att.net is hijacking yahoo. Every software ISP provider wants to be in the browser business. But it is pure crap when they try to force the user to use their browser. I do not want an AT&T browser!!! Quit trying to force me and all of us to use your **bleep** inferior browser. Not only is it inferior, but you have ruined a previously good website....yahoo.com, by trying to gobble it up into your power base. The only thing AT&T may understand is a mass exodus of users to another ISP company I also agree that it is seriously time to give that serious consideration. Another thing, when SBC and Yahoo merged in California, it was a little dicy but nothing like this Bellsouth to AT&T, and then AT&T to AT&T powered by Yahoo fiasco. We have lost the ability to use a free stand alone email account with yahoo.com. I can now not be logged in to my yahoo.com email and my att.net email at the same time. I used to be able to do that. I also used to be able to be logged into two different att.net email accouints AND a yahoo.com email account. No longer. service and quality have been perverted in favor of a huge sloppy buggy "new improved" piece of software CA CA Time to start checking out Comcast.net

Re: Bidniz as usual
Well the cavalcade of SPAM (powered by yahoo) continues... although the mis-direction of mail into my SPAM folder seems to have abated somewhat. It seems remarkably dunder headed that one of the things lost in the upgrade was the 'MARK AS NOT SPAM' button. The 'blocked content' function in Opera is working delightfully well, so checking my email is LITERALLY AD FREE! For those of you not using the Opera browser, I highly recommend it. There's a list of servers to block elsewhere in this forum, so all you have to do is copy & paste, & you're good to go. I'm a Firefox guy myself, but I like Opera a lot (& I LOVE not having those inane ads cluttering & distracting). I surmise that the waters on old Lake Yahoo are still pretty choppy from reading the recent posts & it doesn't really seems like any of the original issues are being resolved. Thankfully I don't have to use this webmail for anything other than personal email, I'd sure be at least a little cranky if I had to try to run a business to run on this cyber goat......

New Yahoo-AT&T mail
What have you done? Talk about screwing up my computer. I already had an account and e-mail address at Yahoo! and now you have screwed up my loading of your mail to where it is too complicated for me. I will not use your e-mail service any longer. I am sick of these "improvements" which are only for additional income for you and no help to users. I have a home page and don't want or need Yahoo! as my home page. I have tried putting the new att.yahoo mail into my browser and bookmark and sorry for you.....it never connects. In order to get my mail I have to sign out of yahoo and then lose my connection which I use daily for other information. I am NOT happy with this change and think we should have been given an option to stay with the old system as crappy as that was, this is too much. Bye Bye. formerly of xxxx@att.net

Re: New Email/Yahoo System
I have a 19" monitor, don't want a wider or bigger one. Now I can't even SEE nor READ my mail without scrolling to the right, line by line, in the panel left since you won't even let us close the exceedingly irritating, insulting ads. I've had AT&T/Yahoo since the week that it became available in my area, years ago. But I am switching ISPs if you don't fix that problem within a week. There are plenty of them for the same or less money but no adds. Meanwhile, you're forcing me to go back to using Outlook rather than Webmail. I pay you already, and I'm NOT paying you to get grotesque ads and to make it so that I can't even see my mail.

They have pretty much sabotaged the Classic version to discourage people from using it. I can't read things with it anymore.

Re: View text size
On getting the switching to the new yahoo version, I keep getting swiched from 100% to 75% back and forth between home page and email page and it is now at full screen width wise, what has happened or how can I permanently fix?

Re: New Email/Yahoo System
I am having real problems with the Spam filter now that AT&T has switched over to Yahoo. Way too many valid emails are ending up in the Spam folder. Before I rarely had any emails I actually wanted go to the Spam folder. Now, I have 5-10 every day. I just checked my Spam folder on Yahoo and found that ALL of the messages it had tagged as Spam were, in fact, valid emails that I wanted. Bellsouth never had a problem with this. The old system had a great Spam filter that kept out the bad stuff and let in everything else. Also, there does not seem to be a way to tag certain email addresses as 'always valid'. I recently even had the stupid filter put 4 messages from me into Spam. If I include myself in a list of recipients, then I have a reason for wanting to actually get the email.

I really don't like Yahoo Mail!

It's slow, it glitches all the time and the spam filter is virtually useless! What happened to the "block sender" feature? And why don't they accept feedback from their customers?

Email Page
Why do we have to have an ad running down the right side of the email page? Even when the message is made "full size", the right side is cut off by the ad forcing the reader to scroll back and forth to read the page. I have not found a way to make this ad go away or minimize it.

I use Windows Mail. Other than a few changes to set it up, will I be able to avoid all the problems mention above? I have never used the the ATT mail system or or Yahoo mail system -- just Windows Mail. Thanks for the info.

@ Wayne,

all these new updates are with the web-based AT&T Home and Mail pages. since you are using a client email program Windows Mail, you are not affected by these changes.

good thing you are using Windows Mail to access your email. your email experience is ad-free! LOL :smileyhappy:

Yes WE pay to get ads! Junk ads and ads that place cookies on you computer and ADS I am sure AT&T have not checked out! Keep in mind they get money ever time someone clicks an ad! Yes I am tired of the ads on main page AT&T and in the email = more ADS Time for a change.......
