I'm having the exact same problem although I'm using Mac Mail 4.3 and my operating system is OSX 10.6.4. Everything was fine until a few days ago- now nothing will send and my mail client gets stuck attempting to connect to server "smtp.att.yahoo.com". Very frustrating since I've checked, rechecked and triple checked the settings.
