3G service

I live in South Arkansas 71635 zip code..Was told that during this summer that AT&T was going to install 3G service here. For 2 months now, between the hours of 8am - 4 pm, slow service, aka media net..can not connect to server, soo slow that when I click a link it will eventually time out and says try again later, mutiple errors..no service..etc etc.. Can not send pictures with text. Early morning  the net on my phone from  5:30am - 7:45am, the net on my cell works perfect and after 4pm through the rest of the evening works great. It seems that when At&t technitions go to work for the day they slow the system down. How long does it take to install 3G service? Every town outside of the 71635 zip code has 3G service! In July on the way back from our Florida vacation, going through the underwater tunnel in Mobile,Alabama my phone had 3G service. This past weekend, camping at a state park in the mountains of Northern Arkansas, surround by trees near a lake and we had excellent 3G service. We are paying for unlimited internet service with our family plan and are not receiving even close to adequate service. AT&T is a multi-million dollar company, if you need to send more technicians and engineers to this area to get the job done as quick as possible get them here. There is no excuse what so ever for this job taking as long as it has.

Re: 3G service

Sorry to hear you're still waiting for 3G service in your area. I did a quick check on the AT&T Coverage Viewer with the zipcode you provided and unfortunately your area is still denoted as EDGE.

I wish I had additional information to answer your question about when the service in your area will stabalize and/or be 3G capable but at this time, I don't have any.

Re: 3G service

This applies for other people who have AT&T service in Crossett, Ar also...as of this morning

From 8:15am - 9:05am

Connection closed by remote server- 29 times

after 9:05am the messages included

The address not available from the machine- 2 times

Remote server timed out. Please try again later- 5 times

After 12pm would not connect at all to media net what so ever.

This has been on going every day for the last 2 months.

If possible please let me know with whom in the AT&T corporate should I speak to about this problem. Customer service,

Vice President, President of the Corporation, Board of Directors?

We pay $250.00 per month for the family plan for 4 cells...Verizon is looking like a good alternative since they have had workign 3G service in this area for over a year.

Technically EDGE is part of the IMT2000 family and is considered 3G

Re: 3G service

Ok JFizDaWiz...maybe Edge might be a part of the IMT2000 family and is considered 3G,
But in the real world outside of a cubicle, Edge network is like comparing Dial-Up (Edge)
to DSL (3G). The town I live in has approximatly a population of 7,000. As you leave the center of town, 12 minutes away in any direction..north ..south..east..or west..you can receive 3G service for a population of 75 -100 people for each direction. As I stated before, Between 5:30 am - 8:00am, the Edge network works pretty fair then it drops out as if your AT&T technitions go to work for the day. It seems that slowly 3G is making its way to Crossett but in the mean time, more and more people I know are switching to Verizon, and their 3G covers this entire area.

Re: 3G service
dont take this the wrong way, but be glad that att has rolled out edge in your area. GSM and cmda1Xrtt are dial up. edge as long as its not partner edge is much closer to 128k. I travel through many areas that my phone shows G not EDGE or 3G and the service is LUCKY to get 28k down. So be happy or switch to a carrier that has 3g in your area. if you have a choice and don't travel then go with the other carrier. att at least has coverage where I travel, which is more than I can say for Verizon.(south central Iowa and south west iowa) But I am from NWA and have had 3g since att's 3rd 3g roll-out, so I don't have the same problem you do.
