For the dead ones, I have exactly the same problem as yours. No power light at all, and fast ticking noise. However, once it's in this mode, mine is dead forever. There is a sticker on the power cord, says a surge protector is recommended... You can ask them to send you a new one first, then you need to send the old one back within 21 days.
