I have gone through all of those steps connecting to wifi in the past with failed results.  It turned out that I didn't have wireless turned on, on the laptop.  I ahve also ran he diagnose software on the laptop and got info there as well.  If you have already verified and/or done these two things hang on.  Someone will be along with other suggestions and probably a solution.

Look on the side of the u-verse box. there should be a sticker on it and will tell you all the info.

Wow! I had AT&T U-verse installed yesterday and have spent the last 24 hours (with a break for sleep) trying to get my laptop to work, too! My desktop works fine, my husband's laptop works fine, but mine won't stay connected. So, I tested my laptop to see how it worked with wi-fi in public places, and it worked just fine... it stayed connected. It worked fine with the prior internet provider, as well. Today, I was told by the AT&T tech that "they've done all they can do on their end." So, it would appear that I have to have the AT&T U-verse uninstalled and go back to the way my set-up was just 2 1/2 days ago. Everything worked just fine! Very frustrated!

Don't go yet.  There are several people who can help you resolve this issue.  They will be along with suggestions for you, so hang in there.

hey guys - i have same problem as a skycompass did - we've had uverse & used this laptop on it for internet for years - i used this laptop at work one day in July and now i can not connect to the internet at home anymore.  It says i'm connected but IE times out trying to display my home page.  at work, a techie guy had to disable a couple drivers (i forget which ones) so i could access the public network.  when i got home that night, i 'enabled' the drivers & now can't get on uverse internet anymore. HELP!! my kids are ready to kill me.

we have an lenovo think pad with xp. i did make sure 'wireless' was turned on couldn't figure out -

i figured out from another posting how to disable the wi fi - and that didn't make any difference - any other ideas???

I know this post is old but it may help future visitors.

We upgraded to the ATT Uverse Wireless.  Every PC worked except the Vista Laptop.  Upon hours of troubleshooting, I eventually went into the Router set up (IP address on side of modem/router) and changed the encryption type to 'WEP SHARED'  I then went to Manage Wireless Connections (where you choose your connection)  and changed the properties to Shared and WEP.  Vista connected immediately.
