Xbox Live issues
[ Edited ]

All,

I apologize for reviving this zombie thread, but I'm having a very similar issue: I have a xbox wired directly to the 3800 gateway, in fact its the only wired computer. I've had issues for awhile, but it seems to be more annoying these days:

I can connect to xbl without any issues, but my ping seems to randomly go very bad. I tried swapping internet cables, I added the xbox application to the firewall exception list, and i DMZ'd the xbox, but nothing works. Things are slightly better overall with the xbox DMZ'd, but the lag spikes are still pronounced.

I'll log on and join a server, usually BF3, that's supposed to have a good connection speed (BF3 has a server browser). Then I'll randomly rubber band or stutter a bit and become useless; i.e. I die from 1 bullet when it should take 6-8; I unload a magazine into a guy for him to turn around and kill me with 2 bullets, etc. It's quite frustrating and I never had this issue with charter high speed.

The xbox is the only gaming/high load connection on the network. Otherwise we access our network with our iphones or imac or occasional laptop that comes home from work (all wireless). We don't have any torrents running.

I am having the same issue and would love to know what the original poster in this thread :

http://forums.wireless.att.com/t5/Features-and-How-To/Xbox-Live-connection-issues/td-p/2301497/page/...

did to fix his issue.

I am matching his pain page for page with things to try and have tried and setup. I am about to call T2 support once more as of yesterday they some how via a gateway reset gotten my DVR and TV messed up so it doesn't record and I am now dropping connection to the web from time to time,

Hopefully someone from the community can help us out here.

So cover things I have done thus far.

Factory reset Gateway

Reboot gateway

Verify and put in port exceptions directed by Microsoft

Taken my 360 to another home and tested it (it works on XFinity)

I am not one to toss around the  whole "I am gonna leave" tripe but when something is clearly a connection issue it should get resolved vice a run around.

Re: Xbox Live issues
-_- Well looks like it back to T2 support. ConnectTech will only troublshoot an issue with devices connection to the network itself. Once it is connected that is all they do.

*I figure if I circle this tree long enough I might get an answer*

Re: Xbox Live issues
So at this point we are waiting on a new modem. There was some tech change on the hardware that maybe the root cause of this issue but may not. It will be here in 2 days and hopefully we will get more information then or have this issue resolved.

Re: Xbox Live issues
Some servers for Xbox will have high ping times between them and you. It is not necessarily a ATT thing, most is due to you have other gamers using home type ISP connections, and along with that, they have it saturated, due to doing multiple things, like P2P, chatting, etc.

Re: Xbox Live issues
teamethiopia, ATT can not fix this issue, due to it has nothing to do with their service. And also has nothing to do with how their tech's work either. What it has to do, is how Microsoft has set up their system, in allowing too many people to connect to gaming servers, which in turn, too many people on home dsl, catv, service goes out the roof.

Again, has nothing to do with ATT, nor how their service works.

Re: Xbox Live issues

Not to rain on the parade but like I had stated I called and worked with MS, I can connect and use basic services on the PC and XBL. However when I hit a high utilization program;  Vid conferencing on Kinect, Skype, or an intense game on XBL or PC; then the connection issues occur and the line is dropped.

I got the replacement gateway which was nice and all but did not resolve the issue.

On hold...Not really liking my current ATT Teir 2 Person as she is being combative at best.

I am not trying to get something for free here...I just want my service to work as intended.

Re: Xbox Live issues

You should contact David here.  He is an AT&T Tier 2 employee who can escalate your case to the proper department.  Please allow 24-48 hours for a response.

Good luck.  And make sure you get a tracking number and receipt when the equipment is returned. :smileywink:

Re: Xbox Live issues

I am on that no problem, from the older thread did you ever get any idea what exactly what the original person's issue? Or what the fix for it was?

Re: Xbox Live issues

He just stated that the tech did something to fix it (Msg. #36):

...I'm not even vaguely sure of what he did. He did say there was a problem on their end and something about upload speed and feedback. .....but honestly I wasn't really listening at that point...

Re: Xbox Live issues

Well the saga ends

I know this has been a dead thread for a while and I want to take a moment to thank the people that did attempt to help me get this resolved. However in the end even with replacing everything, checking the lines, working with T2 support and all the personal digging to get this fixed, I was left with no other option but to stop service.

So if you all get into this with some sort of resolution I would love to still hear on it to finally figure out what is going on or wrong with your service. Untill then cheers and happying intertubing.
