Bought gas today it was 2.99 earlier this week it was 3.09 so saved a dime per gallon.

We're back down to $2.54.

It would be nice if we all got a downward trend in the gas prices in our areas.

Topped off on Monday at $2.51.

Didn't check that same station today, but saw $2.54 at one on the way home. Heard on TV that prices are higher than this time last year, increase wise.
Maybe betting on more people driving for Thanksgiving instead of flying.

Story in the local paper's business section, yesterday I think. The crude oil prices are reaching for the sky.....topped out around $80 per barrel yesterday I think. Anyway....gasoline consumption in the U.S. has been dropping. The U.S. refiners need to use their full capacity to keep their refineries on line and the world market for refined products has skyrocketed. Ergo.....the U.S. refiners are exporting huge amounts of gasoline and other fuels to foreign markets. Thus....at home the fuel prices are climbing and the futures market and at the local pumps. It was a long article but that is the jist of it.

That and the fact that the president has said no new drilling in the gulf for a while now. It's rediculous, skyrocketing oil/gas prices are what started the economic mess we're in right now.

Saw a story on national news the other night where a real cold Winter in Europe is also causing our fuel/oil prices to go up in the US. Well, we sure aren't having any mild Winter here and many areas of the country are covered with snow/cold.
Oil is now at a 2 year high of $90 barrel. And the below link sure isn't good news about fast rising fuel/oil costs in the near future.
Not sure what current home heating oil costs are in the Midwest but would bet around $3/gal. Trying everything possible to run my fuel oil furnace as little as possible. Burning lots of wood and running portable electric heaters. Can't wait to get my electric bill from those power sucking heaters. ![]()
Gas stuck here at $3/gal.

Paid 2.88 one for midgrade and two days later pay 3.08 at the same station for the same gas.![]()

Was 2.99 here in Indy on Monday now 2.79 seems the norm.
Cold weather in Europe causing high gas prices here? Same could be said for warm weather in Europe, or winds in Europe or drought or floods. There is no rhyme or reason to high grass prices. Even the so-called experts are clueless.
Most of our oil comes from Canada. Come to think about it, it has been cold there too. That must be it. It is cold in Canada.

Here's what people pay for a gallon for gas in other cities around the world, the prices are from back in June but you get the idea. I guess we could have it a lot worse.

Interesting article but the prices alone do not tell the entire story! Those prices in Europe are indeed quite high but it's not just the gas that they are paying for. In most of Europe, consumers are really paying about $2-4 for the gas and the rest are taxes, surcharges and environmental fees. In some areas, those fees make up 80 percent of the price that is paid. Some European countries have no income tax (or only recently went that route) and sales taxes (Federal, regional and local) often makes / made up for the lack of income taxes. I experienced higher gas prices in Canada in the early 90's . . . the woman at the station noted that I was paying a GST for all of Canada, an Ontario sales tax and a local (Welland) tax. She noted if I were only paying the provincial tax (Ontario), the price would be cheaper than over the bridge in New York.

I paid $2.69 on Tues.; today, $2.79 and saw as high as $2.97 on my trek to the Med. Ctr.! Diesel at that same station was $3.86+!
That particular Shell station is always outrageous, pricey real estate and the only station for miles with no competition! A lot of older residents, and sure he makes a killing on those who don't want to drive much.

I would love to see a flat tax, but since I work for a tax software company, I'd be looking for new job.
Paid $2.65 after my $.10 Kroger discount yesterday.

I didn't do a search, but I heard on TV that our govt. (I think) is planning a 15 cent tax for all states. That will put a dent in people's wallets, but won't stop them from driving. I predict holdups at gas pumps.
But I guess the need to stimulate the economy (get more tax $).
Electric/hybrid vehicles aren't the answer either as you'll be needing charging stations, and I'll guarantee you those won't be free! Think they have a few in Houston now.
Will take a look at prices this afternoon, doubt they've gone down. ![]()

Was kind of shocked tonight to see roller coaster gas prices while driving around. Some stations at $2.72, while others at $2.92, and nothing in between. Believe those who jacked the gas prices up by 20 cents/gal had to lower them right back down since those stations were empty. Gas wars are good. ![]()

Prices dropped a few pennies here but nothing like 20 cents.

Paid $2.79 tonight because I was running on fumes.
Saw one in the 'hood at $2.69, another at $2.70, others as high as $2.98.
