Going back to pets for a moment. The Saturday night before Mother's Day, NASCAR raced at Darlington. They do not race on Mother's Day or Easter, itself. Just like the earth shattering win by unhearelded Trevor Bayne, Regan Smith, who had never won before, won the race. It was a big race too, the Southern 500. He said that his mom was always at the track but this was one race that she was not at. Where was she? She was in Tuscaloosa, helping care for lost / stray pets and animals! Awesome that he won and his mom was doing that for the animals!

Hey UT! How are YOU doing? Yep, most of us are still hanging on here with a few exceptions. Glad to see you back. Are you going to stick around for a while?
Pets:
Every so often Alfie pulls some little stunt which just sets us to giggling. I should mention that he has a little toy box in the hallway which is usually overflowing with his accumulation of 11 years worth of toys. But his favorites are his squeaky balls. A few minutes ago, my wife went into our guest bedroom to get something and there, neatly arranged on the guest bed....tucked up against the pillows....she found this:
We did not set this up. That is exactly where he put them. The door to the room was nearly closed, but not latched. So he had to nose it open to get in there, hop up on the bed and tuck the balls up against the pillows. Thank goodness his feet were not wet or dirty because the quilt is a treasure of my wife's....made by her mother years ago.
Only a dog or cat lover can really appreciate this.

Hi UT,
I think that I became more heavilly involved with U-Talk, right when you started winding down. I really liked your former icon, which looked like Mr. Potato Head pieces. Welcome back!

Nice to see you back UT.
If I remember right the last time you were here you will helping us figure out if our computers were compatible with Win7. Thanks! ![]()

Welcome back, UT! Hope you can stay with us for a while this time!

He even matched the colors and placed them in the same spot. Maybe you should market him as a designer.

That Alfie is one smart pooch! I'm noticing how they are almost identically spaced, not quite centered, but even on each side. Who KNOWS what he was thinking, but I'd sure like to hear from him!

I've been doing fine. I do hope to actually hang around for a while this time. I'm not sure if I can be much help though, I no longer have U-verse. ![]()
What happened was that I had moved to a neighboring town about a year ago and at the time, U-verse wasn't available. So we went with DSL. However, the highest tier that we could get at our location was Express. 1.5 Mb/s was kinda slow, so we switched to cable. They offered us 8 Mb/s for $30 a month for 6 months. We ended up actually getting speeds around 20 Mb/s, which was great, except for the fact that it was unreliable and would drop out at times. Charter was no help and couldn't get it working after multiple service visits. They even tried to charge us for the visits even though it was their fault.
By this time we switched to voip and began using Netflix heavily, so it was getting annoying having the internet drop out. After the 6 months, we were going to cancel, but they got us to stay on again by keeping the price constant for another 6 months (even if it is unrealiable, 20 megs at that price was a good deal). After the 2nd 6 month period was up, we went back to DSL. At that point, Elite was available where we are. AT&T gave it to us for $25 a month, which isn't bad.
About a couple months ago, we finally got greenlighted for U-verse. However, the prices are MUCH higher than what we had when we first signed up back in 2006. So now we're stuck. I would love to have U-verse back, but it isn't affordable right now. Maybe someday they'll have an offer that's within reach.
So yeah, I'm not up to speed with U-verse anymore. Even if I can't help that much out in the main forums, I could definitely hang around the Lounge.

I thought you might have left UV since your profile changed; but that could have been more merge madness. ![]()
You actually started WOTTs, so feel free to stay and hang out in the Lounge. I'll bet you can still help with some Networking issues?
Welcome back. ![]()

Yup, and several members had problems logging in; others had _1 added to their moniker if someone on Wireless (or DSL) was using the same one...even if they joined, signed off, then never posted! ![]()
So now you have access to all three forums without needing a different ID, or having to sign in/out.

It's really good to hear from you U.T.
Today Google made an announcement. Originally the company had announced the planned building of a fibre optic system over the state line in Kansas City, Kansas. But now they've announced that plan has been extended to Kansas City, Missouri. More competition for the existing Internet service providers

Interesting, but wonder how long these will last before one of the giants buy them up? Houston had one, and I can never recall the name. I tried to get it (before UV was around), but it wasn't available in my area.

They cleaned out a lot of the closets. If you try to go back to far many links that used U-talk do not work. So live in the present.
What are you up too these days?
You are more then welcome but knowing you UT you will be helping customers after a while. We miss koolkid he drops in just to stay Hi once in a blue moon when he is only doing 4 of the 5 or 6 projects in his life.

Ah, the merge:
In the merge, SJ lost his thousands of kudo's so he just went back to being some joe
, well, you get my drift.
Google searches for older posts would look like they were taking you to the old thread but they just take you to the forum home. The threads are still there but it's like looking for a needle in the proverbial haystack.
After the merge, smcleod1106, who used to post here quite a bit, vanished and we had a few "casualties" along the way, after the Hallmark fiasco. ![]()

Yep Dave, that's a period that's hard to forget. And the name "U-talk" went down in infamy and it's just known as the "U-verse Forums" or "AT&T U-verse Community Forums" now. Bigger is better! LOL.
At least when UT re-registered he was able to keep his original registration date of 07-29-2007 which some of us lost.
Hey, and if you visit UU you can still see Uturnaroun at the top of "General Discussion" list with his "THDVR Phase 2/Update" thread. Wow, that was only 3 1/2+ years ago and the thread has had some 70,000+ views. ![]()
Change is good. ![]()

Maybe I should make sure my UU login is still working and change that post?

Well, some will always call it "U-talk" and no big deal. And just about the time you catch up they will come along with another upgrade/update and change everything. They just had another upgrade on 4/29 and we've learned not to get used to anything around here.
Hey UT, your post over at UU is part of U-verse history and I wouldn't change anything about it. They must have left it up there for a reason. ![]()

We lost some others you probably remember, UT. Pip's health is not good at all and she only rarely jumps in just to say hi. Showtime is also much less active than he used to be. I still communicate with him once in a while via E-mail but even that isn't very often. The rest of us are just plain stubborn.
