I have a Panasonic plasma too, but don't have any remote problems although the manual warns about possible IR interference, but my DVR sits to the left just in front of the screen to avoid any interference.  Now some plasma users have found relief by putting a small piece of masking tape just to the right of the red recording lite which covers the IR receiver.  Hope this might help your remote problems.  Wouldn't hurt to call in and ask what they can do for you because of the troubles you've had, been a few reports they get something just for asking.
