Okay...let me clarify things on my install to a 4gb Xbox and my ongoing saga with Uverse.

 

First off, I noticed my HDD size wasn't 4GB.  My brother installed a HD before I contacted Uverse.  It was an early present to me that he was waiting for me to figure out.  So that is why an HDD was showing up.  Sorry for the confusion and/or hope to 4gb owners.

 

Secondly, I'm still waiting for my remote and PNA adapter.  No one at ATT can figure out how to send me the product alone.  They are on their 3rd attempt.  The truck role fee was refunded a week ago and they just refunded the kit cost yesterday.

 

As for what I think was going wrong with the tech install was that I he wasn't loging into XBL.  That's my only guess. 

Since you have the software installed you could have your Xbox activated by calling U-verse technical support. You have to give them the console ID number to activate: You can get it by going to: system settings>console settings>system info.

You could attach the xbox directly to your gateway with an ethernet cable, and move your DVR to an alternate location while you are waiting for your supplies to arrive.

Oh I'm up and running.  I was up and running in five minutes.  My house is all ethernet, no coax.  I just 1) wanted what I paid for and 2) want to watch recorded TV which I can't seem to get to with an Xbox remote.

The Motorola HPNA adapters are only supplied if you need to connect to the Xbox to the network and a Coax option is available but not a CAT5. The $99 fee is for the license to Microsoft only. The box is only given to the customer if it is required. If your really desperate to get one I have a paypal account and 4 extra HPNA adapters sitting in my room right now.

 

 

As for the remote, you're better off finding a Windows Media Center remote and using that. Right now Microsof is in the middle of a redesign of the Xbox remote and I don't believe that it is on sale yet. Even so, the Xbox remote doesn't have an option to go directly to the DVR but if you use a Windows Media Center remote you can do that.

Actually, all the write-ups that I find say the kit includes:  XXXXX and in that list is the PNA adapter and everyone at ATT agreed that it is part of the package.  Whether or not I need it is moot.

Looking at the Xbox page for U-Verse, the Motorola box isn't shown on it and there is a note at the bottom stating that the purchase of additional equipment may be required. Unless you can show other contradicting information I don't believe AT&T is required to give you the adapter.

The part about not leaving the HPNA adapter with the customer if they didn't need it, was part of internal memo given to the techs for Xbox installs, FYI. I don't blame you for wanting it, I made sure I got mine.

 

You might have an easier time getting the remote control, since at&t has that as part of their U-verse accessories catalog.

I think you have a good chance of either getting at&t to order this for you, or it might be easier for them just to take $20 off your next month's bill. Unfortunately the HPNA adapter is not available through this source...

You are correct. Strange how that wasn't there for me earlier when I checked it at work. If AT&T isn't able to supply you one and you still want it desperately, I have 4 of them at my place that I've been meaning to throw onto ebay.

Anybody else having problems with U-verse Xbox 360 (brand new,250gb) and 1080p?

Here's a description of my issue:

U-verse tv flickers, snaps, crackles and pops ever 10 to 20 seconds when I play it through my Xbox set on 1080p.

If I change the Xbox display output to 1680x1050, the problem goes away completely.

Ethernet from the router to the Xbox and 50' hdmi cable from the Xbox to a brand new LG 55" led flatscreen.
Xbox games display perfect. Dvds work great. Netflix streams perfectly fine. It seems like either the Xbox, hdmi cable or tv can't push the att signal hard enough.

Any thoughts? Anybody else experience trouble with Xbox uverse 1080p on a 55"??

I would tend to think there is an incomptibility in the signal between your Xbox and your display. I am running one of my Xboxes to a 1080p display with no issues.

 

FYI, the Uverse app on the Xbox 360, only supports up to 1080i, since there are no 1080p broadcasts. The Xbox may be upconverting the image to 1080p.

 

I suggest adjusting your Xbox 360 to 1080i and see if that helps. You can also try changing the audio output settings inside the U-verse app and the Xbox system settings...

I have taken a "wait and see" attitude on this feature ever since it was announced.  I think I even complained about the charges of $99 + $55 WAY back on a prior page.  I don't see any current news of the price going down with Xbox's new dashboard configuration, as some recent posts suggested.  However a Google search of "u-verse xbox kit" brings up a google listing, where, if you look at the cached version, there is a black box note on top of the AT&T page that says:

 

"We apologize but the AT&T U-Verse TV for Xbox 360  Hardware Kit is not currently available for ordering as we work to improve and enhance this functionality"

 

If I actually go to the page I don't see that note on Chrome...but I hope this means that they are revamping the delivery method for this feature and lowering the licensing fee.  If they get the total start-up to $50 or less I will probably do it.

 

Oh, and I did not search for updated threads on this topic on this forum...so I apologize if this is old news.  This is the only thread I have been following...

Apparently the price of the kit was lowered to $49 before they stopped selling it altogeather. What is supposed to happen now is that you have to buy a XBL gold subscription ($60/year) to use UVerse on the Xbox when it updates for the new Xbox dashboard that just launched yesterday. This new update supposedly adds voice command and motion control (with the Kinect) to Uverse. These new features haven't been launched yet, and we have been debating when that will happen, IMO I don't think it will happen until sometime next year.

Because of the XBL subscription requirement, I think at&t may not charge at all (or much less) to put U-verse on the Xbox, except if you need a remote or an HPNA adaptor. But it is all speculation at this point,  I don't think at&t will reopen the Xbox program to new subscribers, unitl the new version is set to launch...

This would be good news.  I already subscribe to Gold, so I will be interested to see what U-Verse ends up releasing.

Three plus months later...still no update from U-Verse on when the updated version will be released.  Has anyone heard anything?  I'll check back in June, I guess...

No update, I think Microsoft's priority right now was to get Verizon FiOS and Comcast onboard first. IMO since at&t has less subscribers, they aren't as much of a priority...

I actually heard an update and got them to read me an internal memo about the whole thing.

 

Basically it said the app they created for the new dashboard didn't work that well and crashed frequently so they scrapped it.  The memo didn't say anything about a possible release date of the new one though.

 

Another bit of info i got is that once it is released, that's when we will receive our $60 Xbox Gold Credit.

AT&T Dropping the ball again, I got one of the new slim Xbox360s and want to put the uverse app on it but it is no longer avalible. I wonder if i can copy the app from my old 360 to the new one, I would try it but i am affraid it would mess up my old 360.

The only way to get the U-verse app onto a different Xbox is to install it via the Disc that came with your initial U-Verse on Xbox install.  Trying to copy or move the app won't work.

As of 1 month ago, even installing from the disk doesn't work under the new Xbox software.

Does this mean that y'all are left high-and-dry w/no STB functionality?

 

I don't care if cable/satellite have more customers (more $ for MS), MS started this with ATT in this country, and they should finalize with them first.

Only for new installs.  If you upgraded your Xbox software with Uverse installed it works.    I have Uverse on my Xbox in one room.  I wanted to add it to another room and the install process didn't work.  Per tech support, the new Xbox software messed it up and they were "working on it" with no ETA.

Its not true that the disc wont work anymore... I had the install get corrupted on my Xbox and the only way to fix it was to uninstall and reinstall from the disc.

It just installed the old version and updated when I launched it

You are talking about something different.  Your XBox is provisioned.  XBox's that are already provisioned can be reinstalled.  I tried this again on my other XBox and it didn't work so I called ATT to confirm.

 

Per ATT Tech Support as of 3/31/12, no new xbox's are going to be provisioned.  They are waiting on Microsoft to finished programing a new interface similar to the Verizon icon you see.  I believe he also said it would be Kinect supported.

 

Due date for the lauch was TODAY; however, they haven't heard anything.

 

He also said that Microsoft is requiring you to have a Live ID for each provisioned XBox.  I asked if you could  just move your account from Xbox to Xbox and he said he didn't beleive so.  He did think a Family Account would work which is 99 for 4 accounts.

I have a comment about people stating there are no such thing as a self install I am one of the customers who have received a replacement DVR in the mail and only had to call in to get it activated With that said I will not order the Xbox option until I can do it myself I doubt the cost of a CD is that big of deal for AT&T and if I can buy the remote on amazon for $20 why can't this be an option Lastly what is the HPNA adapter for can I not just run Ethernet from my 2wire to my Xbox or does the connection have to come from the DVR?

valnomien -Yes, you can feed the x-box with direct ethernet. The HPNA adapter is for when that option is not available. It is for when only coax is available.

Currently, new activations of an XBox to be used as an STB are not occurring.  So you don't have any option whether it be a tech install or a self install.  U-verse is in the processing of changing how XBox's are provisioned to be used as an STB.  The software on the CD's will no longer be used.

Microsoft has recently updated the TV section of the dashboard to include U-verse so you can launch the application directly from that section. I'm not sure if this is an overdue update, or if there is something that is going to be happening soon...
