Well I came home last night to a beeping battery backup for the iNid had a green power light and blinking red battery light.  Had anyone else experienced this problem?

Re: Battery Failure on iNid

Sounds like there is a problem with the battery, may have to be replaced. Read this for more info. http://www.att.com/u-verse/explore/battery-backup.jsp

Re: Battery Failure on iNid

I already have a tech scheduled. With the inid install its wired directly from the battery to the inid so there is nothing I can do.

ictech, not sure if you have the same setup. this post might be of interest to you. my battery failed a few times until the techs figured out that it's not actually the battery but the iNID which doesn't want to communicate correctly with the backup battery pack.

The tech was out today and replaced the battery as that was indeed the problem.  There are also sending a line tech out tomorrow as there is an impedence in the line.  I hadn't had any other issues since they fixed the picture freezing problem.

Re: Battery Failure on iNid

I just found your post and I am experiencing the same issues.

I have had Uverse since this summer. Since the install the ATT technicians have replaced the battery on the iNid 4 times. (today he replaced the entire unit) Is this a common issue with these 2Wire units?

ictech - did you get your issue resolved?

mine has not been resolved yet (read details in my post above). when the battery is connected in the battery backup unit the system does a complete reboot after 24hrs and battery starts beeping. You can disable the beeping and the alarm, but the system will keep rebooting every so often. The only way to get this to work at the moment is to unplug the battery. They replaced my battery three times until they found that something is wrong with the firmware and that it has problems talking to the battery backup unit. The last service tech came out just to unplug the battery - told me to hang in there until they know of a fix. He was driving around just do unplug batteries...

good luck

Well the battery failed yet again last weekend, but this time they pulled the battery.  So now I wait for a fix for that.

Now I hear they've are doing iNid installs in my area again.  They haven't received the new iNid so there using the one with the flaws.  I guess they haven't learned not to put a iNid out there that is flawed into the field.  I just love having techs to my house almost once a week now.  In fact it will be three within the last week!

Re: Battery Failure on iNid

Supposedly a firmware fix is being tested and will be rolled out to the iNIDs.  Once the new firmware is in place, all you should have to do is plug the battery pack back in and it should work properly.

Re: Battery Failure on iNid

Has this new firmware been released?

My router reports hardware 000705-004 and software 6.3.7.25-enh.tm

I don't have rebooting problems but I suspect the battery warning was the result of a power failure we had while away.

AT&T chat support told me to call GS Battery and buy a replacement, which seemed odd since everywhere else they insist on FiberSafe.

Then I noticed there is a reset on the iPSU itself (left side, just above the battery cover). Tried that and after a couple of minutes the green battery light was restored. We'll see how long that lasts.

One thing's for sure, I should not have needed 4 batteries in 6 months! (previously AT&T had come out and replaced the battery).

They came out for a service call unrelated to the battery backup (I called because of consitent slow downstream speeds). the service guy replaced the battery backup with a new one and told me it has a new firmware on it that doesn't give the reboots anymore. This happened mid January.

battery is plugged back in. shows up as OK in router settings and proved to be useful for our first power outage already. no rebooting symptoms and stable since the new replacement.

i3812V iNID and i38HG router

Firmware version: 6.3.47-enh.tm

Hardware version: 2700-000679-004

amigasteve, they initially changed batteries because they couldn't figure out reasons for iNID reboots and red light symptoms. Eventually they decided to just tell customers to disconnect batteries until a new firmware (which was the culprit) comes out. Apparently battery backups with new firmware are now being installed.

Re: Battery Failure on iNid

After some fiddling with settings and after gettting zero help from AT&T, I finally figured out how to fix the problem.

1.  Use a pen or pencil to press the reset button on the left side of the unit.  This will cause teh battery light to go out and the power light to go red.

2.  Unplug and then replug in the power cord to your outlet.

3.  The alarm will sound for a second, but then both green lights will come on again.

4.  Wait a few minutes for the system to reset.

Thank you for posting that solution.  It will be helpful for others who may have that problem or a similar one.  Glad you got that issue resolved.

Re: Battery Failure on iNid

Thank you SO much for posting that.  I spent an hour on the phone with a customer service person who kept calling me by the wrong name who had NO idea what was going on.  The end result would have been that even though I've only had U-verse for FOUR MONTHS, I'd have had to call Belkin and get them to send me a new battery under the warranty.  AT&T wouldn't help AT ALL.  When I asked to talk to his supervisor, he got all snotty.

This solution fixed it.  Both lights are green.  The phone and Internet were down for about two minutes before they came back online.

This is really making me question my decision to go with U-verse, and I may not last too much longer.  I'd thought one of the benefits of U-verse was the improvement in customer service.  Ugh.

Re: Battery Failure on iNid
Circe74, AT&T has recently been putting a lot of effort into improving customer service. Did you get to speak with the supervisor? That's always a good avenue to take if you are not satisfied. They shouldn't take it personally and is part of the job. Also, if you have a chronic/reoccurring issue with your service they should have your history available and escalate for you. And, check this out - if you know someone that works for AT&T they can take advantage of opening an escalation for you. I hear that program works well. Hope this helps, and thanks to sanderb for the detailed fix!
