There is some "Grandfathering," such as the extra STB's for free. I missed that by a month (lost $10 ($5 X 2) and then $14 ($7 X 2). So if I stayed with UV for 5 years the grandfathered savings would be have been several hundred dollars.
I must have just missed that grandfathering as well. I was told the extra STBs were grandfathered at $5 a month, but I had an increase to $7 a month per STB.
I was, too, but it didn't work that way. Although I had been told that by a CS rep when I called about receiving a notification of increase per STB, lo and behold... my price went up to $7 for all my extra STBs. The powers that be don't tell the CS reps what's going on apparently, so we get caught in the cross-hairs.

Sorry, wrong info... I have U-200 and received a notification in my bill that mine would increase by $5 also. Not real thrilled about that since they keep reducing the stations I receive, but can't get HD from DirecTV at my location, or would go back to DirecTV. Oh, well... they buyer should beware.
Please explain this statement.
They keep moving stations that were on U-200 to higher tiers. To me, that's reducing the stations that I receive. Hopefully, they'll start adding some more to 200 tier. I saw something about Hallmark (ch 176) becoming HD after January 1. Will that be added to U-200 or go to a higher tier?

Not sure about the grandfathering. I was grandfathered in at $5.00, but when the increase per box went to $7.50, so did my charges. Don't count on being grandfathered in. I got a notification my U-200 was going up $5.00. No mention of the phone service for me, but I won't hold my breath.
The current charge for the STB's is $7.00/month.
Sorry, you're right. That was a mistype on my part. Thanks for the correction. ![]()

Many more HD stations were added to the U200 package in 2009 than were moved to a higher tier.

Sorry, I haven't noticed that among the channels I watch. But then, I'm only one of 2 million. ![]()

When I talked to a CSR last week I was told that if your rate for U200 is $59 it will go up to $64, but if you're currently paying $64 it will only go up to $67. So it looks like they're gradually doing away with the lower rate. Assuming the CSR knew what he was talking about -- a dicey assumption in my experience.

The same information was posted in a message a few days ago, so the CSR's information would appear to confirm that.

I'm salesman for UVERSE and they just make my job much more harder.
They need more discounts than their cash back offers and benefits for long term members.
I read some of your earlier posts and the phrasing used does not indicate someone that would be working for the company. Also, if you do work for the company why wouldn't you review with your supervisor rather than posting here?
U-verse is great product and the price increase will not cause me to shop, so sell away!

Good news, looks like some services are not going up, like u-basic(just locals), Internet Express, u-voice 250. After all, I think I'm staying with u-verse, I' m not a big tv watcher, I do hinking and outdoor activities, etc. , I like History channel but every time that I go is on, ice road truckers or deadliest catch on Discovery.
U-verse TV
AT&T U-verse U-basic(just locals) $19.00
1 Receiver $0
HD fee 10
U-verse Internet
AT&T U-verse Internet Express(1.5 Mbps) $25.00
U-verse Phone
Voice 250 $25.00
Taxes surcharges 10.17
TOTAL 89.17

Actually U-Basic does not include a free DVR. You can keep the DVR for $15/month. If you do not want to keep the DVR, they will replace your DVR with an STB at no additional monthly charge. I assume you elected to not keep the DVR, thus a tech will come onsite to replace your DVR with an STB. There is a trip charge associated with the tech visit.primus_2001 wrote:
Does the U-basic warrant a new DVR? I wanted to downgrade from U-450 to U-basic (nobody watches TV), but they want to send a tech and charge me $55 for a downgraded DVR + installation.
