Once upon a time home games of sports were blacked out (or did not exist) to protect home attendance. The Chicago Blackhawks hockey team was the last to get over that a couple of years ago. Only the NFL has home blackout rules to protect sellouts.
These are not my rules or my decisions. The decisions are made by the leagues. As I said, blackout rules existed before the out of market packages came into existence. If you want the leagues' rationale for the blackout rules, you can contact the leagues.
