toomanystrings - just wanted to let you know that there is a way to use your CC button on your SONY. It is a compromise in picture quality, but ou may be surprised how good it is.

Connect the TV with component cables - If you set the aspect ratio to SD widescreen, CC will be available to the SONY. If you set aspect to 720/1080 it will not.

So, you can toggle between CC and not by toggling the aspect ratio.

I think the way at&t has handled CC is terrible, but I also try to make do when it is possible. I offer you this work around only to give you the same opportunity, not to present it as a fix.
