Texasguy: the principle thing is due to the fact that U-Verse lured users to their service under the guise that they were doing everything in their power to get the Padres, which will not be the case if they don't act in the next 2 weeks. Yeah, you fooled me into coming over, but i'll leave if you don't follow through on your promises. I would rather give my money to DISH. At least they didn't lie to me about the situation. Understand now?

Actually, no. With Dish, you will be stuck with a 2 year contact. If Dish does not pick up the Padres' channel during that period, you can't change to another provider who does pick up the channel unless you are willing to pay the early termination fee.
If having the Padres' channel is the issue, I would only change to a provider who is currently carrying the channel. Otherwise, it would make no sense to change from my current provider.

Not sure if this is legit, but a user posted on the SD Union Tribune forums:
"Earlier today I spoke with Chris of AT&T U-verse; he is negotiating the deal on behalf of AT&T with Fox Sports San Diego. If you have interest, call Chris and let him know that we need Padres baseball before opening day on AT&T."

texasguy: Actually, no. I said I have a perverted form of DISH called Ygnition, there is no contract required. U-verse and Ygnition are my only two choices, so why stick with the one that misled myself and others? http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2011/mar/31/opening

evinm0d: I called Chris L. yesterday. He sure answered the phone quick for someone in serious negotiations to save uverse in san diego. His responses were typical nonsense. I'm looking into the outside chance I can get directv (only a few in my complex have the right sightlines). They are probably foaming at the mouth over there hoping u-verse and time warner are stupid enough not to carry the channel.

What do you mean by Cox "moved" the channel?

We are have a couple of problems, they still owe us $200 that is part of the $300 gift card we never recieved. We were assured that FSSD would be part of our package, if that doesn't happen soon I'll go back to Cox. I'm not really happy with the TV service it locks up on a regular basis and I'm convinced that the internet speed is not as fast as Cox was.
Good news I didn't sign a contract and will drop them if FSSD isn't part of my package soon.

I can only speak about my experience. It took AT&T four times to come out. I HATE the computer interface when calling, but the technicians are very knowledgable. I have received my gift cards and used them. Today I had to call and find a balance and after the (stoopid computer) interface, the live interaction was seamless.
However, I can speak on some authority about Fox Sports San Diego. I am a media writer based in San Diego. I know that both companies will probably come to terms before opening day. There will be too much customer outcry if this does not happen. I too, am watching the wires and the other sources; but all indications are "go" for Fox Sports San Diego to be on U-verse. Both companies need a reasonable return on investment; after all it is a business. I want them to succeed at a reasonable rate of that return.
Again, it took AT&T four times to get my service right at my house. Not the technicians or an installation fault. This is a new service with IP TV; and please have patience. Wiring is old and have to be replaced, etc., etc. In five years, it should be moot as IP TV will be more of the norm not the exception. Technology will move forward and currently IP TV (AT&T and others) will have the best reception sans over the air. I am very pleased with the picture quality once my home issues were fixed. I'm actually impressed with the wirless receiver.
For me, I didn't threaten to pull my service; but also note if for some reason U-verse does not have Fox Sports San Diego by April 5, I will get a vendor/provider that does. For me, that will be satelite. Cox's prices and level of service has gone expensive (while the service has dropped in quality).

Hopefully someone will relay your post to the person in charge of making that decision.

I constantly get ads for Comcast Xfinity and they aren't even available in my area. Nothing new there. Also get ads on TV for restaraunts that are not in my area and the closest K-Mart is 230 miles away in Oklahoma and I live just outside of Dallas.

It was 50% off for a year, and the picture I had on Cox is every bit as good as ATT gives us. We did had the upgraded digital whole house dvr package. Main reason we switched was the monthly bill offered a nice savings but if they don't follow thru on the card & FSSD I'm switching again.

What happens after a year?

We had the locking up problem for awhile as well but it seems to have finally resolved itself with the latest DVR that was shipped to us (I think we went through 2 or 3 in the first 3 months). The last customer service agent I spoke with promised me a "new" unit instead of a refurbished one; that could be it, or it could also be that they applied a software patch. Not sure. It's been very solid for a good 8 months now and I'm happy both with the speed and service (they offered me a free upgrade on my internet package for 12 months to account for the inconvenience of my DVR replacements). All in all, quite happy. But the Padres are a pretty big priority for me and I would eventually switch if FSSD didn't get picked up by AT&T.
From what Chris said above (thanks for the info), it sounds like this just needs to get worked out in a manner which is beneficial to both parties. Makes sense. Just need to get it done before opening day!!

Well, I found out that I can get DirecTV at my location. The problem with the "we'll have FSSD on U-Verse by opening day" deal is that if they don't then I'll be out of luck for some period of time waiting to switch service. We know Cox and DirecTV have the Padres. I'll be making a decision before opening day if U-Verse doesn't move on this. The only reason I haven't switched already is there has not been an official announcement from the Padres on the deal with Fox Sports. When that happens and U-verse isn't listed as a provider, I'm gone.
That said, I hate to lose U-Verse because the service has been fine. No Padres is a deal breaker though. We have already missed one telecast and the next one is on Friday. Get the deal done already.

hrodder2 wrote:Just checked the Padres website, they don't show a game on FSSD period, just MLB and Fox Saturday baseball, so maybe the problem is still waiting for the commissioner to give the okay for FSSD to go ahead?
Here is the link for the Padres's broadcast schedule.

If Fox Sports San Diego ends up not carrying the Padres, does that mean that people in San Diego will only be able to see a few Padres games on the Saturday Fox Game of the Week and the MLB Network?
Owning a computer and not having the internet is like buying a refrigerator and not stocking it with food.

I don't believe it's a matter of MLB not approving the deal at this point. That was supposed to occur at the owners meetings on 3/12-3/13. The Padres have been saying all along that they want the games broadcasted to a larger portion of the market under the new agreement. They probably do not want to announce that their new $1 Billion deal will only include DirecTV and Cox.
FSSD showed Saturday's game and I'm sure they would continue to do so for as long as necessary, so it's doubtful that we would only get Nationally televised games.

FSSD is a new station carried on Cox & direct only right now, we talked to our salesman today he is working on the $200 they owe us but had no more comments on FSSD coming to AT&T he just didn't know.
