Yes, I encourage everyone to request FSSD and then just wait and see if it happens, just like our "helpers" would have us do. At least posting here draws attention to the situation as we see several people in the area posting.  If this discussion helps one person make their decision to sign up or not, then it's worth it.  Do what you said you would do U-Verse.

Exactly.  This is a Fox Sports/AT&T issue.  I must have 10 Fox Sports channels through AT&T,  I understand each deal is different, but you would think they could cut a deal.  AT&T is missing out on an opportunity, with Time warner not being signed on yet.  But like I said, perhaps they have no interest in the San Diego market.

Fox Sports could also be asking a fortune for the channel.  There was a link posted a while back that shows how much each channel costs per subscriber and while ESPN is the highest, Fox Sports is getting up there really close to the same price.

Doesn't matter Cox Cable has it and if ATT&T U-Verse doesn't offer it soon, real soon, I'm going back to Cox.

Press "2" for the front office; then you'll transfer to Sarah. Short, consise message about the situation. I'm also doing the same on Facebook, U-verse "add channel", and other social interactions.

It doesn't matter when other carriers have signed on.  This isn't the NFL Network and their 8 games a season you are asking customers to miss.  We are talking about 157 games from one of only two professional teams in the region.  I signed up for U-Verse last year and was told they planned to get the Padres in 2011 from Cox.  They did not.  I gave them the benefit of the doubt because Cox was monopolizing the product and likely did not give them a fair cost.  That's not the case anymore and I will not pay for MLB TV and play the IP address game for another season.  I'm just waiting for the channel to be offically announced before I make the switch.  Seems like it's inevitable at this point.

I was told by our sales person that U-Verse would carry the Padre games. I'm not waiting around for them a full season.

Is your sales person an actual ATT employee or an ATT contractor.  Take that info with a grain of salt.  Or several grains.

Works in the local AT&T store? He is the same person that went to bat for us and finally got the $300 that was part of our offer that AT&T balked on, saying one or the other when we had the paper work saying both.

Congrats on getting the $300 for service. Meanwhile, I'm making as much noise on the social, print, and phone about Fox Sports San Diego for U-verse and other services. Even Dish Network does not have FSSD (yet).

Does that really matter?  The person was representing U-Verse.  Sales people in the area have been saying they would get the Padres for years.  To the point that they had to add a disclaimer to the installation form, saying they do not currently carry the Padres.  That didn't stop my installer from saying they were going to get it for sure LAST YEAR.  I have spoke to several ATT reps over the years before I changed over and they were all under the opinion that U-Verse would carry the Padres soon.  That came from somewhere.  Perhaps it's just they couldn't make sales and resorted to lying to potential customers.  Either way, it's on U-verse.

It is not our responsibility as consumers to know if the vendor works for AT&T. "Darth Padre" is correct; they were representing U-verse. RCSMG, that is like all CL's here work for AT&T. Readers know that is not the fact. Please take that with several blocks of salt.

RCSMG does NOT work for AT&T, he is a user just like everyone else that posts on here.  CL- (community leaders) are users that have worked with other users to get issues resolved or point them in the correct direction to get their problems resolved, There are approximately 5 or 6 AT&T employees that are clearly annotated in their signature that they are AT&T employees.

As for contracted sales person (ie door to door) or phone sales (calling the 800 number) does make a difference.  Door to door sales people are outsourced and many aren't very knoweldgable or will do whatever it takes to make a sale.  If you don't see a channel on the print out or the web site, don't believe any thing you are told until it shows up.  AT&T, nor any provider for that matter will announce what channels they are planning on adding in case negotiations break down and they cannot come to an agreement.

To follow up on the above posts:

Should it make a difference whether the person representing AT&T to you is a contractor or not in the veracity of their statement?  No.  Does it? Yes.

We asked because we'd like to consider the source and judge for ourselves how reliable the information is.  Should we have to?  No.

Should you be able to trust a used car dealer?

I work technical support for my company but for 5 months out of the year myself and 3 others have started working in sales during renewal season.  Knowing first hand that the sale folks aren't well versed in what our product can and cannot do the few of us are working on training the new aquistion as well as the account managers just what exactly our customer can expect from our product so when it's time for me to go back to my technical support side I don't have to deal with as many, well my sales person said it does this and it's not.  I'd venture to guess that the majority of the folks in UVerse sales DO NOT have it at thier house so they don't know.  Does it make it right, no.  But it happens with every company, not just AT&T.

We can talk about what contractors vs. ATT employees said or didn't say all you want.   now that they have the opportunity to add it to their package, it costs too much?  If this is the one channel that allows you to compete with the big boys by your own admission, nothing should stop you from obtaining the rights.

694 or 794??? It's 694 on directv I think. Who are your sources? Most likely it'll be 775 SD / 1775 HD if it's ever added. Would be nice to hear something, anything from AT&T.

geez... this whole situation is really [word filter avoidance]. I mean, from what I understand, MLB hasn't even approved the tv deal yet, so there's no guarantee that FSSD will even be airing padres games next week. Maybe that's what ATT and the rest of the unsigned tv providers are waiting for, because they don't want to pay for a padres channel that can't even air games?

The comments below the article are very interesting and gives you an idea how the ATT customers in the area feel.  Again, DirecTV is reaping the rewards that ATT could be getting.  The Time Warner people would be flocking to ATT if they had an agreement in place.  If a deal isn't announced by this weekend, I'm switching over.  Given this situation with ATT and TW, I'm sure DirecTV is or will be backed up on installs and I don't want to be waiting for an install date.

I went to Cox/Santee. Holy high roller! Price up! DVR is $7+10 a month. 68 channels is $62. Internet ranges from$29 to $99. Phone is about $20. Wow!

Re: Fox Sports San Diego 2012 for Padres games

Yet another article indicating AT&T isn't planning on getting the Padres by Opening Day.  Seems really strange - the closer it gets the more folks (those who care, at least) will start moving their service to Cox or DirecTV if they can.  I'll cross my fingers and hope this is just posturing but if AT&T doesn't get the Padres I will go elsewhere.

UT Article

Slightly off topic, but AT&T also doesn't carry Disney Junior despite LOADS of requests on the U-Verse facebook page (note that both Cox and TWC carry it).  If that's an indication of how they treat new channel requests, it certainly doesn't bode well for picking up FSSD.

I'm extremely disappointed.

Re: Fox Sports San Diego 2012 for Padres games

Seriously, you would switch to a different provider, especially it being Cox Cable which has MEDIOCRE service, just because of a measly gift card? Let me remind you, it involves having to call Cox's 800#, sit on hold, deal with some uneducated customer service rep who's going to try to sell you everything you don't need, wait around your house from 8-12, or 1-5pm for an installation appointment, which is probably going to costs you more from loss of pay from work then the savings would be in the long run. Having to reset up all your equipment again and chaning phone numbers, e-mail addresses, ect..

If you're hurting that much over a $100 gift card, perhaps you should consider just having over the air free programming and dial-up Net Zero $9.99/month internet service. It's so annoying reading people whine and cry around over the most smallest things. There are so many other major problems in the world today, wars in the middle east, diminishing economy, $5.00/gallon gas, people starving and dieing of disease and people are worried about a gift card and watching a baseball team who's last years record was 71-91 and hasn't won a pennant since 1998 and has never won a World Series and probably never will. Reason why they probably just fired their CEO!

Face it, it's time to give up on the Padres and move on........GET OVER IT!!!!

Re: Fox Sports San Diego 2012 for Padres games

It sure sounds to me like AT&T is waiting to be sure they're going to get something for the money they spend before they'll sign up for FSSD.  If MLB doesn't approve the Padre's/FSSD carriage agreement, then FSSD will be worth a lot less money.  Seems like they could structure a deal with Fox that requires Padre's games to be on the channel for AT&T to continue carrying it, but Fox may not be interested in agreeing to that.

Yes, FSSD is playing hardball trying to push AT&T's into signing up. It's almost like they suspect MLB is going to block this and they want AT&T locked up first.

Re: Fox Sports San Diego 2012 for Padres games

emarshall29 if you are refering to my post you didn't read them all, we are square on that, and as for returning to cox at 50% off for a year, its a s simple as calling the business card I have of the agent that made the offer no 800# or waiting.

The gift card is a matter of prinicipal you promise something then deliver. Which it appears u verse isn't going to do in the Padres. My previous cox service was everything my AT&T is and the internet was faster.

Your right time to give up on AT&T and move on... I'm sure I'll get over it.
