If it really was a lot of people wanting Hallmark, AT&T wouldn't be without the channel for two(?) years now.
As already said, the highest ratings on the channels were still under one million viewers. Look at this list:
Top 10 Largest Cable Companies by subscribers[5]
1. Comcast Corporation 22,363,000
2. Time Warner Cable, Inc. 12,109,000
3. Cox Communications, Inc. 4,789,000
4. Charter Communications, Inc. 4,371,000
5. Cablevision Systems Corporation 3,264,000
6. Bright House Networks LLC 2,109,000
8. Suddenlink Communications 1,268,000
7. Mediacom Communications Corporation 1,100,000
9. Insight Communications Company, Inc. 670,000
10. Cable One, Inc. 628,000
(Keep in mind that U-Verse isn't on here, since it's not a cable company.)

DirecTV has somewhere around 20 million
Dish has 14.337 million residential and commercial subscribers.
Let me remind you that fewer than one million subscribers across ALL providers tuned in to Hallmark's most popular shows.
