Different DVR boxes?

I just got a newDVR installed last Wednesday and it only holds 40 hours of HD programming.  It is the IPN430MC - is that the latest box and if so is there any way to increase the storage in it? I ordered the U300 package.

Re: Different DVR boxes?

You should have been given a DVR with a larger capacity. The tech may not have had any of the larger DVR's in his truck.

From the link below:

1 New AT&T U-verse TV customers ordering U450 or U300 are guaranteed the new DVR with larger capacity. Upgrades for existing customers are subject to availability and additional fees.

Call Technical Support at the number shown in my signature.  Ask that a DVR with a larger capacity be shipped to you because you ordered the U300 service.

Not sure why you are receiving the run around on the phone.  The latest Cisco DVR is the ISB 7500 and has a 500 GB hard drive. The stated HD recording capacity of that DVR is 139 hours.

Since you are having problem on the phone, send a PM to Alex who is an AT&T Community Manager on this forum.

Also, check the settings on your account to make sure that you will receive email notification when a PM is received on this forum.

If you have clicked on the blue envelope in the upper right hand cornerand do not see a message in your in box, give him a little more time to respond.  It's been less than 24 hours since you sent him the PM.

Re: Different DVR boxes?

Hey all - thanks for your help. Alex asked another one of the team to contact me, who is great (Chris I think his name is)

The feedback I got was that at present that the Network team only are sending out the IPN430MC box, as the Cisco one has glitches and hence no more are being sent out.  Also, the voicemail said that the Network Specialist told Chris that in terms of HD recording there is very little difference in space, is this correct?>

Any thoughts on the above?  If I can only get 40 hours of HD recording, is there any other solutions such as having two HD DVRs and not one HD DVR and one just HD receiver that links to it?  I had two DirecTV HD DVRs in our last place and combined had almost 200 hours of recording, I dont need that much but closer to 100 hours would be better.

Thanks in advance all

No, only one DVR is allowed per account.

Re: Different DVR boxes?
Thanks, so is it true the only HD DVR you can get with uverse TV is now the IPN430MC box and that caps at around 40 HD hours?

Re: Different DVR boxes?

I was just installed Saturday with the U450 package and they also gave me the small dvr (ipn430mc). I called my local store rep whom I ordered the service through, and he called and got me a high capacity dvr shipped next day air to my house with delivery tomorrow.

Thanks Blujacket - that helps. What is the difference in the amount od HD recordable hours? The IPN430 just seems TINY compared to even one of my DirecTV HD dvrs?

Yeah, ask to be transferred to Tier 2 technical support and that you want a 'high capacity DVR' instead of 'standard capacity DVR' and they can place an order for an overnight DVR to you.

If you need to, tell them that your DVR is making ticking noises and sporadically losing recording functionality. Just a hint :smileywink:

A little disapointed today, received the 4320mc. Thought I would be getting the latest and largest capacity dvr.:smileyfrustrated:

It may be because of what the OP mentioned in the thread below:

Re: Different DVR boxes?
Ok, I have been told that the Cisco 7500 is not available in Atlanta GA and instead am having a 4320MC sent to me too.... :smileysad: Really disappointed but ATT are telling me that due to software glitches there are not any available. I will see if the hours are enough, if not, just cancel within the 30 days and go back to Directv.

At first I was disappointed getting the 4320mc, but 1 thing Uverse has over Dish, is the excellent On Demand choices. I find I am using that and not recording much now.

I agree with the On Demand, just strange that a high capacity DVR still only has a 320 Gb HD these days.

Re: Different DVR boxes?

When I had my U-verse installed on May 18th I specifically asked the install tech if I was getting the high capacity box.  He said he did not have any on his truck.  I insisted that part of the deal when I signed up is that I would be guaranteed the high capacity.  He got on the phone and found another installer with one and it was dropped by my house.

So far the box is working ok.  It does sometimes do strange things when you schedule a recording...like locking the box up and having to reboot.  Early on when I had the  VDSL pad on my line that was causing so many problems if I was watching a HD channel and a recording began the system would crash and I would also lose internet.  At least I do not have those problems anymore.

I like having those 100 plus hours of HD recording!
