Is a VOIP service compatiable with DirecTV on screen caller ID? It's really a question for DirecTV instead of U-verse.
You might try the DirecTV technical forum.

Based on posts of a few folks that had trouble with U-verse CID on various phones, there is a possibility it will not work. But, that is the way it should work.

I have Direct TV and Uverse voice and internet. The caller ID works with Direct TV.
Don't forget to have the Display Caller ID turn on the Direct TV box.

I had DirecTV before switching to U-Verse. Your DirecTV receiver requires a wire connection to an ordinary (non-VOIP) telephone jack.
If that connection is intact and the receiver is still not displaying Caller ID info, you may have a ground loop problem like I had with my DirecTV DVR. To fix it, I connected a jumper wire between the outer (metal) shield of one of the DirecTV antenna inputs and my home AC wiring ground.
I've read on other forums that a few DIrecTV customers had the same problem. You can find other discussions of this issue by performing a Google search using
the terms:
directv "caller id" ground
Hope this helps.

I need to jump in here. My brother has had Direct TV forever and recently got UVoice (& internet) and he's having problems with the OSCID.
It's not an all or nothing situation. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's making him crazy.
He called Uverse CS and they've told him a couple of different stories from 'oh some callers just have their number blocked' to 'it's your phone'. Neither of which make sense because it's an occassional problem. And it's not like he gets the "unknown caller" ID on the TV. There's just nothing showing on the TV screen.
Supposedly someone at ATT is "going to do some tests" and get back to them but I don't put a lot of faith in that. ![]()
I'm going to send him the link to this thread. Perhaps he can get some tips from you guys. ![]()

Skeeter, a couple of possibilities, does your brother have newer equipment? Some of the older boxes have analog modems which could cause a problem with the digital VOIP and purchasing a digital to analog phone line converter might help. Also he could try a reboot like with the Uverse boxes, also I've read that clearing the call log history sometimes helps.

I assume he has the newest U-verse modem since he was just installed but perhaps older Direct equipment since he's had Direct for awhile.
I know that they've rebooted the UV modem to try to fix the problem but that didn't help.
I sent him a link to this thread so maybe he can try your converter fix.
